After being encouraged by my lovely daughter. A blog seemed to be the answer to getting some of my pictures out there for friends and relatives to see without waiting for a major download. We still have some folks using dial up and waiting an hour to see a picture. I love my pictures and love sharing them, however, I wouldn't wait an hour for them nor would I expect anyone else to wait that long. Not sure what the definition is for blog but it sounds like something I'd scrape off the hull of my boat after it's been docked all summer.
The time has come with a son in Iraq, a daughter, daughter in law, grandson and grandaughter on the way in the Aloha State for me to do something where I could easily share pictures, news, etc. It has been 12 years since I had my toes in the sands of Hawaii, but, hopefully will get there again sometime this winter.
Along with this idea comes a hobby of sailing and pictures of sunrises and sunsets from aboard our 18 ft Catalina sailboat. Sadly enough, it is out of the water on the trailer beside the house waiting for some autumn attention prior to moving it into storage until springtime. It has got to be one of the most depressing times of the year to put it away and know that it will be months before you can once again shut the engine off and feel and hear the wind take over. It is a spiritual thing to feel that wind take over and move that boat through the water.
Barbara Lee is the name of the boat, named in honor of my mother who passed away last year in February just prior to my purchasing her. She is a safe boat for a family, well designed for storage. It can be a daysailor or one that can be taken out for several days. We have stayed out two nights on it this year tied up to some friends and enjoying swapping sea stories, eating good food and enjoying nature. I really have trouble sleeping out there mostly because I want to see what is going on outside the cabin. I sometimes get up in the middle of the night and go out on deck just to watch the stars, moon, fishing boats or listen to fish jumping off in a distance, too far for you to see at night. You can sometimes smell the wood smoke coming from the campground and once in awhile hear noises coming from the city miles away. I sat one night and listened to a train whistle that had to be 5 miles away if not farther. That kind of peace one doesn't experience very often. So for now, It isn't allowing me to post a picture so I'll go rest for the remainder of the evening and try again later.

Certainly saves download time. You might consider email to alert people that a new blog is up.
